Sarah, from our fundraising team, is running The Clinic Exmouth Half Marathon this April, to raise money for our New Deaf Academy Appeal. Here’s Sarah’s story:
“I’ll admit that once upon a time I used to be a bit of a runner! Not good, not fast, but I did challenge myself to, and completed, the London and New York Marathons. But that was back in the day, when fitness in your 20s seems to be a tad easier and you’ve a bit more time to train.
“So 2019 seems to be the year when I dust off my trainers and start from scratch! With much older bones that are weary from small (but amazing) children – I have actually signed up to the Exmouth Half Marathon, eek.
“Working for the Deaf Academy I see the challenges that our amazing Deaf students overcome each and every day. And well, if they can do it then surely I can set myself a challenge.
“My aim is just to get round (crawling if needed!) but I know the finish line feeling will be great and any money I raise will help build a new amazing purpose built school in Exmouth that our Deaf students really need. So watch this space (pray for me!) but if you fancy a challenge in 2019, whether that’s giving something up, doing a couch to 5k, or joining me on the Exmouth Half then let’s make it happen… join me!”
